Wine Paired Menus and On the Farm Dining

Update!

Farm Fresh Dining

On October 23rd, we hosted our first Wine Paired Farm Dining Experience. Chef Ryan Baisden and Sommelier Tony Ruffo treated 22 guests to a six course dinner that featured an Italian theme.

Distinguished Engagements recently prepared and served the annual dinner for the Fauquier Education Farm. Their patrons and guests enjoyed a meal that came right from the farm. This event is something I feel uniquely called to do because I believe in sourcing our foods locally. The Education Farm’s work reminds me of my own personal ministry in faith. This community farm provides fresh produce for local families who need assistance, and that is exactly the kind of service that feels right to me. I personally enjoy creating a menu from local resources. Our dinner menu highlighted our robust regional food system. Enjoying a meal on the farm helps connect people to that.

Exciting Menus with Local Ingredients

People are surprised that a locally sourced menu is diverse and exciting. It is fun to take the fruits and proteins from local farms and serve them in surprising ways. The menu creation for the Education Farm dinner gave me an idea for more private, but just as sincere, catered dining. I am inspired to create something a little different for my own patrons and guests. (This is the fun part!)

I am pleased to share this wonderful new experience with you here: Wine Paired Menus and On the Farm Dining. Each event highlights local food systems and provides wine education. Combining my love for food and wine and creating unique dining experiences is something I have envisioned for many years. Our team is embracing this concept because so that we can share our passion for food with you.

Menu themes will vary. Every dinner highlights one selected region, such as Italy or Spain, and each course will be steeped in regional flavor. To keep it exciting, the regions will change for each event. The four to five course menus feature in-season produce and proteins from local farms and growers. Wines are selected for individual flavor signatures that enhance each course. We have several ideas in the works for craft beer lovers, too!
